Why do we need a “mind file”?
Blog#2: Lifenaut Lifesaver Volunteer / Bin Chen
Living life is like catching the running water, to have it, you have to let it go first. Memory should be the same. We should not cling to our old memory, rather we should enjoy every living moment. If that’s the case, why do we need a “mind file”? Will a mind file help a Human being live a more fulfilling life or cause more anxiety and confusion? I ask myself these questions while I am exploring the mind file. The Lifenaut mind file website itself has evolved since the beginning. The database is used to engine the conversation between you and your Avatar and has evolved over time. The dynamics of my exploration with the mind file are changing as well. At the beginning when I set up the file, the process was mechanical. I uploaded the files, pictures, and all the evidence I could find of my mother’s past. When I moved on to the personality section, I performed all sorts of tests on behalf of my mother to discover my mother’s true personality. Though, most of us have only one type of personality, you could twist the data over and over. Recently, Lifenaut added a new section “Interview” – I started a conversation with the machine about my mother. This part actually can be integrated into our day-to-day life. I like the “Perceived Stress Scale” part, you answer 14 questions and you will get score of stress level over time! You can take this over and over. Imaging if you would like to use this as your stress level monitor!
I try to simplify my view of the “mindfile”. It’s hard for me to visualize my twin “virtual mind “ at this stage. I am not even sure I would like to have a “BChen2” avatar. Here is my vision of the “mind file”- when I swim in the life river, along my side is a lifeboat. The lifeboat helps to store great stuff I find in the river. When I am tired, I climb to the boat and let it float… When I encounter ferocious water field, I cuddle on the boat. It’s a great feeling to have a life boat – a safe and trusted place you can always count on. A place you store your most treasured moments for reflection…
